The Date For The Abortion Referendum Has Been Announced

The referendum on the 8th Amendment to the Irish Constitution will take place on Friday, 25th May.

Health Minister Simon Harris and Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy are set to hold a press conference formally announcing the decision.

The exact wording and legislature for what any changes to the constitution would entail has been debated in the Dáil and the Seanad over the past week, but the Referendum Bill was approved today and the long-expected date of May 25th has been confirmed as the day the referendum will take place.

The period of voting on the day will be between 7am and 10pm of the day in question.
