The social media based dating app Bumble has been growing in popularity since its launch almost two years. The app works much like Tinder although there are some quirks.
Bumble uses the same swipe left/right function as Tinder but if a couple match on Bumble the woman has to initiate the conversation & if she does not do so within 24 hours, the match expires.
Now Bumble is dipping its toe into the professional networking market with its new feature, BumbleBizz.
Bizz profiles let users add verified photos, resumes and a skills section as well as examples of their work to their profile. However, rather than being a place for finding new jobs, Bumble maintains the new feature is intended for networking and mentoring only.
The new feature also works on the premise that women need to initiate the conversation. Speaking to The Verge, Bumble hopes that by letting women choose who they want to talk to, Bizz will “help clear up the grey areas in networking that often make women feel uncomfortable.”
Bumble Bizz launches in the US, Canada, UK, France, and Germany on the App Store on Monday and will be available on Android on the 18th.
It seems a strange move to link dating and networking into one app. I know I'd be very wary of accidentally sending my CV to a potential flame...
