Dublin And Cork Airport Respond To Planned Graphic Pro-Life Protests

Dublin, as well as Cork airport, have responded to the Irish Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform's plan to use graphic images to protest abortion in both airports.

The centre plans on hanging placards featuring graphic images, to try and persuade women to not go overseas and carry out an abortion. Both airports have made statements saying that under bylaws, any protests or distribution of leaflets at airports are prohibited unless the airport gives permission.

The 'Airport education project,' plans to carry out a number of protests and according to their website, are still looking for volunteers. The date range for the protests is from July 29th to Sunday, August 13 at Dublin Airport, Cork Airports and both city centres.

Dublin Aiport responded yesterday saying, "In response to queries, under statutory airport bye-laws, the distribution of leaflets, etc and/or the holding of a public meeting or demonstration is prohibited unless approved by the airport. We do not give permission for protests of any type at @DublinAirport".

Cork Aiport also issued a statement along the same lines, "Under airport bye-laws any protest is prohibited unless approved by @CorkAirport. We do not give permission for protests of any type, ever".

Upon hearing the news of the planned protest, many pro-choice campaigners took to Twitter;

A pro-choice counter protest to the 'Rally for Life' will be happening this Saturday at 2 pm at the Spire on O' Connell Street.
