Identical Twins Receive Identical Points In Their Leaving Cert

Reading that headline you can't be mistaken for feeling like you're in the Twilight zone but yes, identical twins have received the same amount of points during their Leaving Cert. Here's everything we know about the identical twins and the Leaving Cert scenario.

Cathal and Patrick O'Brien (18) studied at The Clongowes Wood College, a fee paying secondary school in Kildare, for the last 6 years. The pair opened their results at the same time and discovered they both had scooped a massive 554 points  - you can imagine their faces.

The pair are hoping to study at Trinity College Dublin. Although they're both doing Science subjects, Patrick is hoping to study Chemistry and Cathal will study Computer Science.

Speaking to KildareNow, Cathal said:

We got the results at the same time. We did not expect to get the same points. It is class, we are really looking forward to Trinity.

The pair are not the only twins to receive their Leaving Cert results in Ireland. Rachel and Helen Byrne from Portlaoise both were chuffed with their overall points but have decided to pursue different courses. Rachael is going to study science in Galway and Helen is going to do primary school teaching in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick.

Speaking to Leinster Express, the pair discussed what it would be like to be separated for the first time:

We are together all the time and we are going to be separated for the first time, which is scary but it should be okay

Our minds are blown.
