The Jeremy Kyle Show Has Been Taken Off Air

ITV has suspended filming and broadcasting of The Jeremy Kyle Show after a guest died shortly after appearing on the show. The episode was due to air this morning but was replaced by an episode of Dickinson's Real Deal at short notice.

“Everyone at ITV and The Jeremy Kyle Show is shocked and saddened at the news of the death of a participant in the show a week after the recording of the episode they featured in. Our thoughts are with their family and friends,” a spokesperson said.

“ITV will not screen the episode in which they featured. Given the seriousness of this event, ITV has also decided to suspend both filming and broadcasting of The Jeremy Kyle Show with immediate effect in order to give it time to conduct a review of this episode of the show.” The participant has not been identified.

The Jeremy Kyle Show launched in 2005 as the UK's answer to Jerry Springer, and has a daily morning slot on ITV. The show has been criticised in the past for being exploitative and unhelpful to its guests.

People have taken to Twitter to share their views on this news and the overwhelming sentiment is that The Jermy Kyle Show won't be missed.
