I'm afraid we partied to hearty. It's time to put your tops back on and throw the bags of cans away because it's about to get wet.

We should have seen it coming really. There has barely been one GAA club match played across the summer so far that wasn't decorated with torrential downpours and for a lot of the country this weekend will be no different.

Met Éireann have issued a status yellow warning for all of Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan, in place from 3am Saturday morning until 3pm Saturday afternoon, citing, 'widespread rain with the risk of heavy and thundery downpours for a time on Saturday which may lead to accumulations of 20-30mm.'

Ah great!

They've also issued one for Donegal specifically, with heavy thundery rain forecast between midnight tonight and 6pm Saturday evening. And here they were hoping for a soft Brexit.

Looking further ahead, as they say, next week is meant to be a lot fresher and dry for the most part but with a mixture of sunny intervals and showers. Which would probably be Ireland's tagline if it was on Tinder.
