Every year, time and time again, it becomes one of the most divisive of all Budget issues – and every year, we have the same old argument all over again.
That's right: it's the tax on cigarettes. And this year, yet another 50c was levied on to the price of a box, sparking the battle all over again.
Generally, it's divided between smokers and non-smokers – we probably don't need to explain who goes on which side of the argument – but it's not always so simple.
After all, you'll always have the occasional nicotine addict who still views them as a scourge on society; and similarly, you'll have the occasional anti-cigs fanatic, who still views such taxes as unnecessary meddling by the state.
