The Royal Baby is here and it's a boy!

The wait is finally over, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced the arrival of a baby boy. The announcement was made via the Sussex Royal Instagram page.

We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz. The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.

Following the announcement, Prince Harry spoke to Sky News to share his excitement on this joyous occasion. With a beaming smile, the proud new Dad told reporters:

Meghan and myself had a baby boy early this morning, a very healthy boy. Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It's been the most amazing experience I could ever possibly imagine.

He then adds:

How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we're both absolutely thrilled.

We're both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there, it's been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.

Prince Harry announced that his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, had given birth to a baby boy, saying "’we're both absolutely thrilled".

The British public has shared the excitement about this new arrival with many gathering outside Windsor Castle to celebrate. One Twitter user has rather pointedly observed that even though the Royal Baby is only a few hours old it is already richer and more successful than any of us will ever be.
