Well, it's happened again. A British publication has called Irish actress Ruth Negga British.
It's a pretty well-known fact that throughout film, sport and other mediums, some British journalists claim Irish actors and sporting people as their own. Unfortunately, this year was no different.
Twitter-user @amyohconnor spotted the following excerpt in a British publication;
I am sorry to say that the Brits are at it again. pic.twitter.com/9dcLqcjauo

Not only have they included her amongst British actresses, they've also named her a 'British rising star', as well as saying she's 'also from the UK.' All you can really do is laugh at the whole situation. If the British think they can just pluck actresses from nearby countries and claim them as their own, they've got another thing coming for them.
The message here is: do your homework before you decide you can pick and choose who's 'British' when it suits you. P.S. we hope Ruth Negga wins the Oscar and makes us prouder than we already are.
