How to use your pass

Fill out your travel diary

OK first things first, you need to enter your outbound and inbound dates in your travel diary you get with your pass. *If* you're wanting to travel in Ireland first, you need to enter when you're leaving and when you're coming back.

Then, enter the other details of journeys along the way.

Using travel days

With the pass you choose, you might have a limited amount of days you can travel, or unlimited, and a travel day lasts 24 hours from midnight to midnight.

Flexi pass or continuous pass?

If you have a flexi pass, you can travel on any day you choose until you use up all your travel days i.e. if you have a Global Pass with 5 travel days in 15 days, you can decide at the beginning of every day whether to use one of your travel days.

If you have a continuous pass, you can travel every single day within the validity of your pass.

Fill in the travel calendar

If you have a flexi pass, you have to fill in the date of each travel day in the travel calendar, which is printed on your Interrail Pass.

Make sure you enter the date correctly or you'll lose a travel day!

Ticket inspectors will ask to see your travel diary and your Interrail Pass so you have to record the details of every journey you make before boarding.

That's the main details you need to know for now. Stay tuned 'cause we'll be doing a interrail journey planner article soon!
