40 Things I Wish My Mum Had Told Me

My Mum, what a legend... But she missed a few key pieces of advice I really could have done with.

 

1. Put eye make up on before my foundation


 

2. That saying someone 'throws like a girl' is insulting.

3. To listen to you intuition. It exists for a reason and it's very, very strong.


 

4. If you don't like smoking, don't bother taking it up at 23.

5. That no purse is complete without Extra or Tic Tacs.. Bad breath is inexcusable.


 

6. That just because you were friends with someone when you were a kid, doesn't mean you have to stay friends now.

7. That you should drink as much water as you can (*within  reason). Your skin will thank you.


 

8. That lasering is god's gift to hairy legs. It's worth the money.

9. That the cool guy in school will not necessarily be cool after college.


 

10. It's a cliché but the rich girl might not be as happy as you think.. or as happy as you.

11. That dates are like job interviews with cocktails. If you don't get the job, a better one is waiting for you.

12. That experimenting with drugs is fine, making them part of your life is a very stupid thing.

13. Occasionally swapping a green juice for a coke, is a good thing.


 

14. That birth control is more your responsibility than his, realistically speaking.

25. Sometimes we need to lie. White lies are okay, as long as no one is hurt by them. 


 

26. Drinking during the day is a lot of fun, just don't make a habit of it.

27. Family will wreck your head, but they will remain consistent. If you can, try and appreciate them.


 

28. Sex is underrated and under enjoyed. Educate yourself. Enjoy.

29. If the sex isn’t good, then make it good. If you can’t make it good, then move on.


 

30. Just because all your friends have boyfriends, do not settle. You will regret it.

31. There is no such thing as a perfect man, relationships are hard and they require work - but it's so worth it. 


 

32. Someday, something awful or tragic might happen, something that you never thought you could deal with - but trust me, you are a lot stronger than you think and you will get through it.

33. Take care of your skin and never, ever, ever do a sunbed. 


 

34. If you're going to get hair extensions, get them cut to a realistic length or you'll just look stupid.

35. You can try and see the good in everyone, but some girls are just bitches, don't try and understand it, just stay away. 


 

36. You can try every fad diet in the world, the only thing that actually works is eating good, fresh food and a bit of excersice. No big secret.

37. If your shoes aren't comfortable, just don't wear them - you can see it in your face and it's not a good look. 


 

38. Relish those days in the library, they may seem shit at the time but you'll remember them fondly - I promise. 


 

39. Always have enough money in your bag to get yourself home, no matter who you're with - you never know what might happen. 


 

40. Absolutley nobody has had an entirely easy ride, even the people that make it look like they have. Excuses are for the weak, stop using them and just get on with it.
