Green is the new Black

Have you slipped into the same standard looks every time you go for a night out? Are black and bronze smokey eyes making you yawn? Why not try this Arabian inspired olive green look for a change. The green is dark enough to still look sultry for that night on the town, yet subtle enough for most people to be comfortable with. This look can be as dramatic or as subtle as you want, it all depends on how far out you bring the flicks at the side. I'm mad for dramatic make up so I brought mine quite far out, but as I've said before and I'll say again, these are guidelines, not a rule-book!!

For this look I used mostly MAC products, but the only really important colour to exactly dupe is the shimmery olive green. Although if you're feeling adventurous, why not switch it up for a rusty orange or deep blue?

As a side note, please excuse my super-shiny skin in these pictures, my skin was very sensitive so I'm only wearing a light tinted moisturiser!

Step 1:

I've already primed my eyelids and done my eyebrows in this picture. Apply your dark shimmery green to your lid and crease using a medium sized fluffy brush. ( MAC - Night Light pigment)

Step 2:

Underneath the eye, bring the same green the whole way across. When you get to the outer corner , bring it out in a straight line away from the corner of your eye (this line should be roughly symmetrical to the one on top)

Step 3:

Using the same brush, add some black to the crease and outer corner. These outward lines at the corner are not going to be blended, so when adding the black try and keep them as straight and neat as possible. (MAC- Carbon)

Step 4

Blend the black upwards and outwards, but keep it in line with the green. Don't fill in that triangle space at the corner! Using a smaller brush, add some black to the under eye as well.

Step 5:

Add a highlight colour to the browbone, inner corner and fill in the little triangle with it, blending outwards. I used Urban Decays Virgin for this, which is a very light shimmery pink, but a white or gold toned highlighter would work equally as well if not better. Also add your liquid eyeliner. Bring the flick out as far as the green. Also use a small brush to sharpen up the lower corner line with black.

Step 6:

Finally, add some black mascara and you're done! For added drama, use a black pencil eyeliner to line the inner upper and lower lids (shown in last picture). I love this look as its easy to wear and something a little bit different! Enjoy!
