Princess Diaries is a firm fan favourite and we have all been anxiously waiting on any snippets of information on filming or a release date for the third instalment. We were first introduced to Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway and her Grandmother Queen Clarisse Renaldi, played by Julie Andrews back in 2001, that's 18 years ago. The second instalment which saw Mia crowned Queen was released 15 years. I think it's time for fans to see how the story develops.
Anne Hathaway spoke to HollywoodLife at the premiere of her latest film 'The Hustle', a comedy alongside Rebel Wilson. When asked about returning to the role of Queen Mia, she said:
It’s in Disney’s hands!
In January of this year, Anne Hathaway confirmed that there was a script for the third film in an interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. In the interview, she revealed:
Yes, I know these rumours have been circling for like, EVER, but this time I actually think it's going to happen!
There is a script for the third movie. I want to do it, Julie wants to do it, Martin Chase our producer wants to do it. We all really want it to happen, but we don't want to do it unless it's perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it and it's just as important to us as it is to you and we don't want to deliver anything until it's perfect. So we're working on it.
So come on Disney, pull the finger out, give the fans what they're looking for.
If you want to see Anne Hathaway's latest film 'Hustle' hits Irish cinemas today Friday, May 10th.
