Last night saw 3.37 million people tuning in to watch ITV2’s new series of Love Island, hosted by newly engaged Caroline Flack, which has set a record high viewing for the channel. The show has been gradually becoming more and more anticipated after the success of every season so far beating out the last one.
150,00 people applied to be part of Love Island's latest season, which is more than the amount of people that applied to leading Universities like Oxford and Cambridge.
With record breaking statistics before the season even gets into full swing, it looks like this group of Islanders are going to have a lot of attention drawn to them.
Love Island fans were left with their jaws on the floor last night after a series of unfortunate events (for the Islanders) had us glued to the TV waiting to see what would happen next.
Here’s a quick recap of what went down:
All the contestants were introduced one by one with a reel about who they are and what they do. The girls who came out were; Dani (Danny Dyer's daughter), Laura, Samira (West End dancer), Hayley and Kendall (not Jenner).
The boys are: Niall, Alex (Doctor), Eyal (ex boy band member), Wes, Adam, and Jack (sells pens). - Yes, thats 6 boys, and only 5 girls! Drama!

Things ran pretty smoothly for a second, until none of the girls stepped forward to claim Alex as their man. We were all completely cringing at this point not knowing what was going to happen. Then, Alex was able to choose from whatever girl he wanted. He chose Laura, who in turn stepped forward at the next opportunity to trade the doctor in for Wes.
Alex was than side benched until the last couple was put together. He was then paired with Samira, who doesn’t seem all that happy about it.
The next shock of the show was when Adam showed up (the 6th boy), and let the contestants know that he will soon pick a girl of his choice from the arms of another man just to thicken the plot.
The couples then spent the evening getting to know each other, and every so often would be interrupted by Mr.Steal-your-girl, Adam, who would come over to see if he wanted to maybe steal your girl away.
This obviously caused hysterics of jealousy and a threat of territory to any man who was paired off.

It seemed that Adam had his eyes on a few of the girls including Dani Dyer, Kendall and Laura. Samira also had her eyes on Adam himself, but in a predictable manner, the show ended just as Adam was about to pick the girl he wants to be coupled off with. Uncool.
This was the ultimate start to a long anticipated series, and lived up to its expectation. Seems like the only way to find out who Adam picks is to tune in at 9pm this evening to pick up where they left off.
