17 years after the sequel to one of the best rom-coms of all time was released, they’re finally making a trilogy!
After much speculation over the last few years whether it was going to happen or not, Reese Witherspoon took it upon herself last night to post to her social media announcing that it’s true and she is going to be involved in the making of Legally Blonde 3.

The perky sorority girl-turned-lawyer, Elle Woods, was an influencer of her time. After turning her life around when her boyfriend broke up with her and becoming a Harvard graduate and a hot-shot lawyer in order to get him back, Elle Woods then rejects her ex when he wants her back, realising that she doesn’t need him and she sets off to make a career for herself instead.
Elle Woods should now be in her 40’s, maybe with kids of her own, and working in a big time law firm. It should be interesting to see what the movie is going to revolve around at this stage of Elle’s life.
The movie is set for release on Valentine’s Day 2020, with most of the original team working to produce an up to scratch third movie. Reese Witherspoon as Elle, of course, and Karen McCullah, who wrote the script for the original movie in 2001 are both confirmed for the team.
We look forward to seeing what Elle Woods is going to conquer next.
