Is Tinder Implementing Height Verification Or Is It A April Fools Hoax?

Is Tinder Implementing Height Verification Or Is It A April Fools Hoax?

On Friday Tinder announced on across their social media channels they would be implementing a new height verification feature for men. The short video to introduce this new feature starts with "Let's bring honesty back to dating", it then shows a user imputing their height into the popular dating app and receiving the error message "Please enter your correct height" followed by "Seriously...please enter your correct height". The closing scene is then directed at women saying "Goodbye to height-fishing"

This new announcement was the topic of much debate over the weekend with many labelling at an early April's fools based on the timing.

Whether it is a real feature that is coming soon or simply a clever marketing tactic for April fools, what it has highlighted is modern dating is a load of utter bollocks. On the Tinder blog, Tinder state that it has come to their attention that most of the people on there that state they are 5 ' 10 are actually 5'6 and the charade must stop.

A number of disgruntled men have taken to Reddit to voice their outrage at the suggestion of such a feature. Many have also called on the Tinder to introduce "weight verification" stating that they and many of their friends have been "fat-fished" by women on Tinder. One Reddit users stated:

Tinder just announced a setting for men to show their height.. I can just about guarantee they won't do a f**king thing about weight for women.

He then clarified with "Let me be clear, I have no issue with a woman if she is fat. I am just not attracted to it. Also, it is totally okay with me if a woman isn't attracted to me because I'm 5'9'.' Sounds like a real catch.

I remain sceptical, I will believe this feature exists when I see it. Still, Tinder has made so very valid points, the charade must stop and let's bring honesty back to dating. No amount of new features can make these changes, people need to change. Stop cat-fishing, height-fishing, weight-fishing, ghosting and all other utter bollocks that has developed from dating apps.
