For many of us, college was the best period of our lives. The youthful exuberance, limited responsibility and infinite drinking sessions with your friends seems a distant fading memory. It's only until you graduate college, leave the student life behind and begin to climb the corporate ladder that you realise just how much you miss those days. Here is 11 reasons why we miss college.
11. It's still socially acceptable to be an immature ingrate.
You can mess around, throw a few paper airplanes, get insanely drunk without taking too much heat for it. Enjoy it while you can!
10. College is the last time you'll have absolutely zero responsibility.
For most students, a part-time job is their largest responsibility, and that's just to feed their drinking habit. They never take these jobs too seriously and generally have their parents money to fall back on. This won't last forever though.
9. It's okay to scrounge off your parents.
You can call up your parents and ask them for rent (beer) money without hesitation, and they will usually give in to your request.
8. You don't mind drinking cheap beer and vodka.
You can go out and skull a shoulder of Glen's vodka or 6 cans of Tesco lager without so much as a wince.
7. You don't work a full-time job.
The joys of not working a 9-5 job Monday to Friday. Your schedule is wide open!
6. You can go to certain bars without having to worry about people being so young.
You avoid certain bars that you used to frequent because everyone is "18" or even worse, under-age. You'll feel like a dinosaur, and you steer clear of that scene now as you have learned to enjoy a quiet night out, rather than an all-night rager.
5. Having the freedom to come and go as you please.
In college, it's okay to miss a lecture, an assignment or even take a week off, but at work you HAVE to go to work because there are actual consequences for your actions, such as using up a sacred sick day, being docked pay or getting fired!
4. Not having mind-crushing hangovers.
In your college days, you were the king of drinking, staying up all night drinking barrels of beer, litres of vodka and several shots of tequila. You would possibly wake up in the mornings still drink, but your hangover would be nowhere near what they have become nowadays - you need a full day to recover whereas a McDonald's Big Mac used to do the trick.
3. It was still somewhat somewhat acceptable to take weird drunken photos.
You're flying down a road at midnight in a stolen shopping trolley or tossing traffic cones across a road on your way home from the bar or even worse, teabagging your friend when he's passed out. Someone comes up with the wretched idea to take a photo of your drunken antics. You laugh about it the next morning but there comes a time when these photos are just too much...
2. You enjoy living weekend to weekend.
Your plans range from weekend to weekend, split up with some heavy midweek drinking on "student nights." 4 day rollovers from Thursday to Sunday are nothing to you. However this will soon pass...
1. 4 months off in the summer!
The number one reason why we LOVE college is of course having the entire summer at your disposal to do what you please. You'll never have a job that affords you this time off every summer, unless you're a teacher of course! But who wants to look after the crazy kids that you once were on a daily basis?!
