The 2014 Essential Guide For Lads

1. Buy a Parka

A brilliant investment of around €70 in  that will come in handy nearly all year round , these jackets are perfect for the Irish lad on campus or on the lash. Why, you ask? Well, along with looking boss,  they're the job for anything thrown at you by that temperamental prick that is the Irish weather. A good parka will keep you warm in the line for the club, during that struggle to find a taxi home at 3am and they'll last well into spring summer keeping the rain/drink/fag ash off the good clothes well into spring/summer.

2.  Get your hands Navy or Tan Desert Boots

Ever come home from the club and your white High Tops are not exactly errrrr white anymore...  Ahh but wait there's a solution: Suede River Island or Timberland Desert Boots from €40- €60. They're easy to clean, don't get soaked or destroyed on the first night out, add serious class to your outfit and best of all they last a long time leaving more cash for the important things in life, like Buckfast, weed and ketamine.

3. Go to a festival!

Whether it be the big bros like Oxygen, Electric Picnic or Castlepalooza or smaller scale (but still unreal) stuff like Sea Sessions or Indiependence! My own personal choice would be Life Festival , Dusky is on the promo video, so it looks set to be an absolutely maaaaaaaaaaaad one.

4. Signup to Netflix

Their original stuff is unbelievable, House of Cards etc!  Oh yeah they have like the top stuff from AMC and HBO so if you haven't seen Breaking Bad just watch it... If your like myself and find yourself be seriously bored and doing nothing at all most of the time there's so much quality stuff on Netflix that will help you pass the time.

5. Head to that gig...

...Where your flat-mate's cousin's friend that's in a band or is a DJ is playing in, you're bound to find some someone playing tunes that you really really like or it may open new doors for you in your taste in music. You might enjoy it again you might not but do you really want to hear One Direction, that girl that twerks or Flo-Rida for the Millionth time again in the same club you went to last week with overpriced and watered down drinks. Remember; Familiarity breeds contempt.

6. Get Out!

If you live in the city there's plenty of bars and in town to go; visit them, talk to some new people and make some new mates!

7. Lastly and most important

BE DIFFERENT! DO DIFFERENT THINGS! If you're in college most of you are away from home in the city you can literally DO WHATEVER YOU WANT go on shave just the back and sides and keep it long on top and for facial hair rock the stubble look (Shave after ten days for the best result)
