5 Great Men's Winter Coats To Get Your Beau For Christmas

5 Great Men's Winter Coats To Get Your Beau For Christmas cture>

This weekend is set to be a cold one, so you'd better wrap up, but just because you're packing on the layers doesn't mean you can't look good while doing it.
Here's a list of the best men's coats that'll keep while looking good.

1. Peacoat

The peacoat is modelled after the over-coat issued to naval personnel . Made from tight-woven wool it is somewhat water proof, and the double breasted design means that it is a good defence against the wind. They're a common sight on the high street but it's worth splashing out on for a quality coat that will last you years.

2. Parka

Originally based on an Inuit design, the more familiar khaki style appeared in the 1950s in use by the US Army. With a voluminous hood with a fur lining this is perfect to keep you both dry and warm. These days it's styled more casually but there's nothing stopping you from throwing it on over a suit for a mod-inspired look.

3. Perfecto

The leather perfecto jacket is water proof and great defence against the wind, but it doesn't have the best insulation. If you do choose the perfecto try and wear a few layers underneath it or a chunky knit. A classic and versatile jacket, and decently built one will last the rest of your life.

4. Shearling jacket

Shearling made a huge comeback in 2015, and this coat is guarantied to keep you warm.
The retro style has a strong 1970s vibe to it so make sure you avoid any other retro looking clothing with it unless you want to look like you got lost on your way to a costume party.

5. Trench coat

Yet another item of clothing adapted from the military, the trench coat can be traced back to WW1. Relatively lightweight and waterproof, this coat will keep you dry without weighing you down. There isn't much in the way of insulation so make sure to layer up underneath. It's perfect for throwing over a suit for the morning commute or a chunky knit for a more casual affair.
