DFEi Dun Laoghaire Aim For The Top Of The Charts

DFEi Dun Laoghaire aim for the top of the charts and in doing so have secured two major industry deals: a DFEi Music stage at “Vantastival” – a first for any college in Ireland and a contract with “Radio Monitor” to release their new album “ Dimensions” on Friday 21st of March 2014.  The album will be available globally through iTunes, other digital platforms and as full physical release on CD nationally in all good record stores.

The album was preceded by a single “Every Time” by Leiko featuring Isaac.  Initially released via Reverbnation on Friday 24th of January 2014 “Every Time” reached No. 2 in the Hip Hop charts and as a result is now being serviced to radio.
Louise Tangney, Director at Vantastival said “a major part of Vantastival’s ethos has always been to support up-and-coming Irish music and we see the partnership with DFEi as the next step in nurturing the new generation of homegrown talent”, while Radio Monitor’s Feidhlim Byrne, added “It is an ideal platform for artists and students to see how media monitoring works in a real life setting.  We are delighted to be involved in the project”.
John McFadden, from DFEi Music said “With these partnerships, DFEi’s students have the opportunity to experience diverse aspects of the industry; from recording, producing, and mixing music to promoting it as singles and albums.  And this year they get to host and manage a stage at a deadly festival with over 70 acts playing, now that’s bringing education to life and a great way to celebrate 10 years of DFEi Music!”

The 15 track album was produced by the students under the watchful eye of DFEi Music’s Patrick Wall.  The students with Project Director John McFadden have several events planned to promote the singles, and album with in-stores around Ireland and the Launch party in The Button Factory in Temple Bar on Thursday 27th of March.
Many of DFEi’s former music students are having success in Ireland and internationally.  The top 4 DFEi album “ Native featured “The National ” by “Lethal Dialect” was produced by DFEi’s alumni G.I.(Christopher Buckley) and featured on RTE’s hit show “Love/Hate ”.  Former student, Conn O'Ruainaidh from “Raglans” has performed on the Late Late Show and their music is currently gaining airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and a number of Irish stations.  Also appearing on the Late Late Show were Clara Byrne, Des Garvey and James O’Connor; James has also had anumber of hit singles since graduating.  Martin McAndrew is currently travelling the world withBastille as part of the crew.  Emma Curry has sung and recorded with KodalineBressie and Aslan,as well as appearing on the top 2 album “Cycle against suicide”.                                                                                            
DFEi has been running certificate and diploma media courses for over 15 years in areas such as sound engineering, event production, public relations, journalism, and TV, Video & Radio. The college also offers: certificate, diploma and professional courses in a wide range of areas including: Business, Information Technology and Health & Sport.
