The feline friend behind some of the greatest internet memes, Tardar Sauce, known to all as Grumpy Cat has sadly passed away. Her owners Tabatha and Bryan Bundesen broke the news on Instagram and revealed that despite the best care the internet sensation passed away as a result of complications from a urinary tract infection.
We were first introduced to Grumpy Cat after a photograph of her was posted to Reddit back in 2012. The picture was an instant hit and went viral, inspiring numerous memes that have cropped up time and time again.

Grumpy Cat, who was aged 7, was one of four kittens. According to her owner Tabitha Bundsen, the unique scowl that made her an internet meme was caused by feline dwarfism and an underbite. Grumpy Cat has a serious social media following with 1.5 million followers on Twitter and over 2 million on Instagram.
