Am I The Only Person Who Calls A Hot Water Bottle A 'Jar'?

Am I The Only Person Who Calls A Hot Water Bottle A 'Jar'?

I was eating my lunch in the office today when I noticed when most people call a 'hot water bottle' sitting on the table. How or why it got there, I have no idea but that's not the main issue anyhow.

What got me thinking was that at home we don't call them hot water bottles. We call them 'jars.'

Earlier today I'd written a Beginners' Guide On How To Speak Cavan so I suppose the colloquial juices were flowing. I asked around the office and everyone looked at me like I had ten heads. Even the lad from Louth didn't know what the hell I was talking about!

'It's a jar!' they contested. Well ... Is it a bottle?

Surely someone else has to call it a 'jar' too? Surely this isn't something which is localised to the point where it's only my family. Let us know on Facebook if you are one of the enlightened few.
