The location feature has become a common update amongst social media apps over the last year. Snapchat maps were faced with absolute fear when they were launched earlier in the year. The map, unless disabled, continuously shows your exact location on a world map and every other user you follow on Snapchat. Now Whatsapp has announced a new update that will rival Snapchat maps:
Where is the feature on Whatsapp?
You simply click on the 'Location' button once your phone has updated to access the 'Live Location' feature.
How long will your location be visible for?
You can breathe a sigh of relief though as the length of time on your location is timed so you can choose how long other users can see your location and you can press "stop sharing" at any time. You can share anything from 15 minutes to 8 hours. Your location will not be visible once the time runs out or you press Stop Sharing. Your location will only be visible to the person or group you've shared it too.
Will it be useful?
Organising group hangouts or meetups is a daily pain but if every person in the group is sharing their location it will be easier for people to meet up or find each other on a night. Similar to Snapchat, a map will appear that will show the location of each of your friends as they move around.

When is the feature available?
The Whatsapp location update will be available in the coming days and weeks for both Android and iOS.
