With Storm Emma restricting essentially the entire country to do little else for several days, other than lie huddled at home in their beds, there have been innumerable knock on effects. One of the more deleterious of these is the fact that it caused a drastic reduction in the amount of blood being donated to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service. As a result, national blood stocks are running dangerously low.
