It's the first time you're truly independent of your parents, your first time paying actual rent, and your first time just being a real-life adult. While it can be scary being on your own, the place you end up can always make up for it, and these places are some of the best to pick from in the US.

1. Atlantic City, New Jersey

Known best for the boardwalk, Atlantic City is a great place to be for the summer. Loaded with tourists during that peak time, jobs are plentiful and the weather is lovely. Plus, if you're over 21, you can gamble in some of the best casinos on the East Coast.
