What A Man's Hair Says About Him

The relationship a man has with his barber is a fairly close one. When you look shit, you feel shit. A decent haircut can fix a lot of things believe it or not. The following is what a man's hair says about him:

Mr. Highlights

Most likely to be seen in The Style Club on South William Street. Mr Highlights has no shame in letting the world know that yes, he cares about his hair and  Yes, he dyes it and spends a fortune on nice shampoo to preserve it's condition.

The Loyal Servant/The David Beckham Groupie

If Becks shaves his head, the loyal servant follows suit. If Becks gets cornrows, the loyal servant does his best to follow suit. Beckham is a god and has many a follower/copycat. The loyal servant copies him most though. Alicia in The Grafton Barber has done her best to keep him up with Beck's ever changing looks. He likes the magazines and the beer as much as the relaxation…

The Old Fashioned Look

In the days gone bye men liked things traditional and getting ready for work was a ritual. The Old Fashioned appreciates this. He laments the fact that he can't actively smoke a pipe and be more Don Draper-eque but such is life. The Waldorf Barbers give him some comforts and shows him that all is not lost in the year 2014. Gentlemen have a place to go and be appropriately groomed in a manner that does not involve house music and chewing gum.

Bohemian Like You

You long for a world more interesting than your corporate job allows. You want a place to bring your cat to. You want someone who understands your hair in a way that the average joe barber won't. Your hair tells a tale. You find you can get it adequately coiffed in Regents.

The Greaser

Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys gets how you want your hair to be. He carries a comb with him at all times. You want that uber groomed look. The Grooming Rooms fits the bill. You like their style, and their atmosphere. After a perfect haircut you take your barnet down the road to Grogans. You sit outside and watch the girls go by. Things are good.

Mullet

Your Saturday mornings were spent watching AC slater on Saved By The Bell. 20 years on you still haven't quite grown up. You haven't quite found your look or your ideal barber. Your mum cuts it occasionally for you. You get frustrated halfway throughout the process and usually tell her to stop. She does and you end up with half a haircut, or indeed a mullet.

The Quiff

You like to look good and you are not ashamed to admit it. Your dad might think you're ridiculous because you have moisturizer in your wash bag and designer stubble but you actually know you are Ireland's modern man. G-Male caters to your every challenge. 'How can I be better looking?' you ask. They get this. This is the modern man's desire. You feel no shame in here and leave knowing you are better coiffed than most.

The Beanie

No one actually knows what your hair looks like, if it even exists. You have had it hidden under a beanie or a cap for the last 6 years. Even at festivals you are known to sleep in the beanie. Your hair remains a mystery.
