Last Minute Irish New Year's Eve Ideas For Poor College Students

Stumped for ideas on what to do on Saturday? It's not too late if you haven't got a clue or you haven't got the cash. Here's some cheap ideas that'll ensure you have the best New Year's Eve ever and say goodbye to this crazy year with a bang no matter where you are in Ireland:

1. Take the DART to Howth and look at the stars.

2. Climb Bray Head.

3. Take a stroll along the Grand Canal.

4. Explore Phoenix Park and feed the deer

5. Go ice-skating and one of the many rinks around Dublin.

6. Cycle somewhere you've never been before like north of the city.


7. Drive to the Dublin Mountains to revel in the city lights and fireworks at midnight.

8. Take a stroll along the Salthill ‘Prom’ in Galway

9. Drive to the Connemara mountains in the afternoon and spend all night there.

10. Hop on a ferry from Galway to the Aran Islands. Blissss.

11. Sit on the banks of the River Corrib with your friends and some wine.

12. Walk down Kirwan’s Lane, in Galway’s Latin Quarter just before midnight.


13. Chill on the Salmon Weir Bridge and look over the city.

14. Go to the West End and dance to trad music in a cheap bar.

18. Hop on a train at Kent station to anywhere.


19. Play on the Shakey Bridge (Daly’s Bridge).

20. Walk in the Lee Fields late at night with a friend, along the river’s edge.

21. Hike to the top of St. Patrick’s hill to see the view.

22. Go down to Cobh for the night and sit in a quiet bar as the countdown goes.

23. See the stars at Blackrock Castle Observatory.

24. Walk along Tramore beach.


25. Make a trip to Coumshingaun even if it's just to drive there.

26. Buy chips from Johnnie Walker's and share them with everyone else.

27. Sit by Lough Gur and think about the new year.

28. Take a stroll over the Living Bridge and take a flask with you.

29. Go for a NYE park run in Limerick.
