This Aussie Bar Has Banned Its Male Patrons From Hitting On Women

Ugh, sometimes being hit on in a bar can be the worst, especially if it's unwelcome and especially if you're just trying to hang out with friends. While this is an annoyance for both men and women, one Aussie bar has banned men from approaching women when they go out for a drink.

Maple Bar, in the nation's capital Canberra, has a strict house policy of stopping men from hitting on women, or as they so gently put it:

“Gentlemen, don’t approach ladies; and if you are so lucky to have one approach you, treat her as you would her mother.

“No hooting, no hollering. Be polite and approachable, but let the lady advance to you if she chooses.”

The Maple Bar also has a hostess who meets and greets all the guests, reports the Irish Examiner. “She decides who enters based on their attitude and whether or not they meet the dress code,” said owner Sophia Carlini.

“Madi’s role doesn’t end there, she engages with customers throughout the night and works with the bar and security staff to ensure the house rules are being adhered to".

Interesting stuff. Wonder if Coppers will ever have the same rule?
