British Council Flag Gaffe Has Ivory Coast In The EU Ahead Of Ireland

Twenty-nine schools took part in a mock meeting of the Council of the European Union at Stormont on Friday.

During the event a pupil representing Ireland brought the attention of the room to the fact that the flag that had been delegated to their table was that of the Ivory Coast:

Happy to see this morning that the Ivory Coast's application to the EU was accepted and I wish them all the best of luck in their dealings with the EU.

Fair play to the lad for bringing it to the attention of the room who had his peers in stitches over the mix-up. Although to be fair it's a relatively easy mistake to make.

The mistake was that of British Council who were in charge of organising the event. Feckin' Brits.

The schools were debating the future of the EU-UK relationship and how the EU-27 can deal with the challenges of the 21st century.
