Oh Christ! Four Biggest Broadband Providers To Up Their Prices

It's bad news for thousands of households across the country as four of the biggest broadband providers are raising their prices.

6,600 houses are being affected by the news that Eir, Virgin, Sky and Vodafone have revealed they will be rising prices at different times between this October and January next year.

People are already paying more than the going rate for their broadband compared to other European countries - with an average spend of €60 per month. Irish broadband is the third most expensive in Europe.

According to Breakingnews.ie, David Liston from 'One Big Switch said: "If I was a consumer sitting at home thinking 'I'm sick of this price rise and I'm sick of paying too much for broadband', I'd go to OneBigSwitch.ie."

The idea is that people will switch and shop around. Currently, 330 Irish households are joining the switch campaign every 24 hours.

"Joining is free, check out the offer. If you want the offer, take it up. If you want a better offer from your own provider, call your provider and say 'I've got this One Big Switch offer, what's the best you can do'?

Poland is the cheapest EU country for broadband. An average of €16.60 is paid over there for broadband.
