Some Venues Will Be Breathalysing Junior Cert Students Tonight

Thousands of Junior Cert students across the country celebrating their results will no doubt be letting their hair down tonight.

As students get ready to party later, venues hosting Results parties are trying new and inventive ways to prohibit underage drinking. 'No Name' club in Kilkenny, will be going so far as to breathalysing students they suspect of being drunk.

Alcohol-free celebrations will be happening later across Ireland including at Tamango and The Wright Venue in Dublin and Neptune Stadium in Cork.

When celebrating, President of the Teachers' Union of Ireland Joanne Irwin has stressed it is important to be responsible. As quoted in The Irish Examiner, she says:

"Students have worked very hard and they should enjoy their celebrations.

"We would always encourage to do so responsibly, but not put their own well-being or the well-being of others at rick but to certainly enjoy the celebrations after they've worked hard and they deserve it.

Enjoy yourselves later folks and stay safe.
