Mother Arrested After Using Taser To Get Her Son Up For Mass

I never can exactly remember what the closing date is for people to get in their entries to nominate someone for 'Psychopath of the Year', it always seems to slip my mind. However, I think we may have an early shoe-in on our hands for 2018's prime contender.

Sharon Dobbins, a 40-year old resident of Pheonix Arizona, was arrested by police after she allegedly tasered her son on Easter Sunday to try get him out of bed. She had apparently tried several times to rouse him from his bed so that he could go to mass, and when that failed, she fetched the weapon to coax him out of bed and into the bosom of Christ.

Now, I am not a religious man, I would not consider myself fully versed in the literature of the church, but I know my Moseses (Mosii?) from my Jesuses (Jesii?) and, to the best of my knowledge, there is nothing in the New Testament advocating that if your son seems to be a bit reticent about embracing religion than the best course of action is for you to threaten them with a taser. To be fair, that has a bit more of an 'Old Testament' vibe to it and I'm less familiar with that side of things, so I'll leave open the possibility that that piece of advice is buried deep somewhere in there. Perhaps in Leviticus?

She alleges that she did not actually taser her son, but simply fired the taser near him so that the noise would force him out of bed. While firing the taser she also reportedly yelled "Get up! It's Jesus' Day!" Which, seems a far better name for Easter. Surely, it's only a matter of time before we as a society see sense and decree that 'Jesus Day' catches on.

While her son alleged to authorities that she had in fact tasered him on the leg, it was confirmed that she did not actually taser

She said of her actions, "I don't think I did anything wrong because you're supposed to put God first and that's all I was trying to do is tell my kids to put God first."

Good Christ.
