The United Airlines passenger made a statement through his attorney after the horrific video of Dr. Dao being forcibly removed from a United Airlines flight. The video showed Dr. Dao being dragged from the plane after refusing to give up his seat. The doctor pleaded with United Airlines staff and aviation authorities that he had to go home in order to help his patients and he had already been traveling for 24 hours.
After the Aviation authorities dragged him off the plane, which resulted in injuries to the man's face, the doctor ran up and down the aisle of the plane in a confused and disorientated state. Passengers pleaded with the authorities to release the man as he began screaming for help.
According to WLKY Dao, 69, is recovering in a Chicago hospital and when asked what his injuries were he said "everything". The family's attorney Stephen goal said: “The family of Dr. Dao wants the world to know that they are very appreciative of the outpouring of prayers, concern, and support they have received. Currently, they are focused only on Dr. Dao’s medical care and treatment".
United Airlines have apologised to passengers and promised a refund to everyone who was on board the flight. The CEO of United Airlines, Oscar Munoz, has said in a statement about the incident:
The truly horrific event that occurred on this flight has elicited many responses from all of us: outrage, anger, disappointment. I share all of those sentiments, and one above all: my deepest apologies for what happened. Like you, I continue to be disturbed by what happened on this flight and I deeply apologize to the customer forcibly removed and to all the customers aboard. No one should ever be mistreated this way.
One of the Aviation officers who removed Dr. Dao from the flight has been placed on leave.
Today Dr. Dao has filed court papers for the airline to preserve evidence of the incident. The court documents indicate that the company must retain all information in regards to Dr. Dao checking onto the plane and any evidence substantial to the case.
