5 Irish Towns That Will Deliver The Craic On New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve is, quite often, shite.

Not only is there pressure to organise somewhere decent, but you're actually expected to enjoy yourself while you're there.

While cities like Cork and Dublin are championed as THE places to celebrate one of the biggest nights of the year, they're also likely cost you a fair bit - and you might as well write off being able to get a taxi at a reasonable hour.

If you're looking to have the craic on New Year's, you won't go too far wrong with these Irish towns.

1) Dingle

There are plenty of reasons to visit the supermodel town of Ireland. Home to over 50 pubs, you won't have trouble finding a good spot to ring in 2018 in Dingle. It has a colourful music scene as well - fans of trad music will especially fall in love with the place.

2) Westport

Another class town along the Wild Atlantic Way, the Mayo spot promises all the craic you'll need for New Years.

Westport is peppered with lively pubs, bars and nightclubs and if you're dying a death the next day, a walk at Oldhead beach might sort you out.

3) Kilkenny

Yeah, yeah, Kilkenny is a city but the concept of the session was practically conceived here, so we couldn't not include it in our list for new years. The Marble city is awash with pubs and nightclubs and just in case you need any more persuasion, the city's Left Bank was voted the Best Bar in Ireland earlier this year.

Excuse me!

4) Killarney

Buzzing pubs? Check.

Scenic views that will put a dent in your 2018 hangover? Check.

Unlike Dingle, Killarney isn't as far out West and has a train station, so it might be handier for you when it comes to travel.

5) Doolin

One of the best looking spots in the country, the town is also famous backdrop for traditional Irish music and practically a magnet for people who are looking for good time. Wander over to the Cliffs of Moher while you're down there.
