Saoirse Ronan's Golden Globes Acceptance Speech Was Pure Irish

Last night, the awards season kicked off and Hollywood's elite came out to play for the big extravaganza. A highlight for us was Saoirse Ronan's Golden Globe's acceptance speech and we think she deserves a special accolade for making it the most Irish thank you speech ever.

The Carlow native - who won Best Actress for her role in the coming-of-age movie Ladybird - said 'hiya' to her Mam, Monica, on Facetime and told everyone her best mate Eileen was her date at the event.

As well as giving a shout out to her family and friends, including the important women in her life, Saoirse gave a nod to everyone in attendance at the event.

Saoirse saw off stiff competition from the likes of Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, Judi Dench and Helen Mirren and we're willing her to get the biggie, adding Oscar winner to her list of achievements. Only question is, will she ask her Eileen to go with her to the awards or will she just Face Time her on the night?

It was a great night for the Irish, in general. Writer-Director Martin McDonagh took home awards for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
