6 Ways To Keep Cool In A Heatwave

So as you can probably tell we're in the midst of a pretty sweaty heat wave. Sometimes it's pretty difficult to stay cool during the day with the sun beating down so heavily, but we at CollegeTimes are here to help, here's six inventive ways to stay sane in the sun.

Hydration

It should be noted that consuming alcohol is probably not a great idea if you're going to be spending all day out in the sun but we couldn't think of anything better then sitting out with a few tinnies getting badly burnt.

Ice Towel

A favourite at Wimbledon, grab a lot of ice, throw it into a towel and tape the ends shut, it'll keep the back of your neck ice cold for hours as Andy Murray will attest to. He was a major fan of the ice towel.

Paddling Pool

A paddling pool can be used just about anywhere, in the back garden, in the park, even in the office... Professor Splash jumped into one from an incredible height of 30 ft - Don't try that at home!

Wear A Hat

Not only for looking cool, hats are a great way to keep cool too. The wider the brim the better, use a sombrero if you have one. Pair with some nice sunglasses if you want to look stylish.

Eat To Sweat

Eating hot and spicy food causes your body to sweat and sweat is good, it cools you down. Load up on chilies and scoff them down. In some of the hottest climates in the world people eat the spiciest foods and let the sweat do all the work. You may look gross doing it but you will feel great.

Graze

They say the bigger the meal you eat the more metabolic heat your body creates, so if you eat smaller meals on a more regular basis you wont suffer from major PEF. Try to stay away from lots of protein as it increases metabolic heat more.
