9 Things We're Looking Forward To This Pride Weekend

So it's pride week all over the world, but here in Ireland we're especially looking forward to the big weekend. After last month's historic referendum, what can we say? It's going to be like a second St.Patrick's Day, only with more rainbow colours and sparkles. Here are just a few of the things we're most looking forward to about this years pride weekend:

1) The unlimited amount of rainbow flags everywhere.

Did I really just hear you say there's "too much colour"? Do you realise what week this is? Taste the rainbow, bitch!

2) Gays doing their thang on the streets and not feeling insecure.

Understandably, a lot of same-sex couples still don't feel comfortable with too much PDA but this weekend is certainly an exception. Get out there on the streets and kiss your partner with as much oomph as you possibly can and that's an order!

3) Madonna and Lady GaGa overload in the nightclubs.

Oh, mustn't forget about YMCA as well. It's fun to stay at the....

4) Drinking all week is perfectly acceptable.

As mentioned above, it's like a week-long version of St.Patrick's Day but with a lot more dildos than shamrocks...

5) The guards can't say shit to you cause if they do, they're homophobic.

Seriously though, they say a thing to you, play the homophobic card. Even if they're a gay policeman. Try it anyway and see what happens.

6) Everyone is deliriously happy all the time.

Because it's pride weekend, duh. Why wouldn't you be happy about that? SMILE.

7) You will definitely make a GBF during the weekend.

Even if you already have one gay best friend, there's plenty of room for at least ten more. You can never have enough GBFs in my opinion.

8) It's a family-friendly affair (for the most part).

What better way to destigmatise the LGBT community than for straight families to bring along their kids to the parade? Kids love Skittles and colours anyway, right?

9) You're guaranteed to see at least one proposal.

Especially with the referendum having just passed and this being the first pride week since. And chances are if you see one, you'll cry. It's just that beautiful and special. You have been warned, bring the tissues.
