Face Paint Tutorial: Avatar

Hello and welcome to what will be the first of many face paint tutorials!! I decided to start out with something very recognizable : Avatar! This look is easily achievable with what you already have in your makeup bag plus a few facepaints!

Step 1 : Paint your entire face blue. I’m so hot right now.

Step 2: Highlight your forehead, nose bridge, cheekbones and chin with a shimmery white eyeshadow , and contour with a very very dark blue shadow.

Step 3: Using a black eyeshadow, draw a line as shown in the picture below, blend out the sides of this line on the nose. This step is crucial to creating that wide-nosed affect.

Step 4: Using a black liquid liner, line your upper and lower lashlines, bringing the lower line in towards your nose. Then line slightly below the lower line with the black shadow from earlier. This is the step that creates the almost feline eye-shape.

Step 5 : Create your stripes using the dark blue eyeshadow from earlier. I used a still from the film for reference, but just draw them on until it looks like there’s enough! Also fill in your brows with this shadow.

Finally, spot on some white facepaint and fill in your lips blue, and hey presto! Avatar! This look is deceptively easy, and looks a lot more difficult than it is. Great for that wow factor at halloween! This entire face took me a little over 45 minutes, drawing the stripes on is definitely the most time consuming! Keep an eye out for more Halloween tutorials!
