The Librocop Who Stole Christmas Is Still Roaming Around UCD

In every Irish college there's one person who likes rules and likes to reinforce said rules on a daily basis.

In UCD, that Checkpoint Charlie was none other than Librocop, also known as the bald angry man or "the lad who won't let you bring stuff into the library".

Librocop, who roamed the hallways of UCDs James Joyce library, sniffed out wannabee troublemakers who tried to defy the natural laws of the library space. As most students used the library in December, Christmas is his favourite time of year:

If you liked to whisper to your friend next to you, quietly giggle at a post on Facebook or loudly sip water then you were in direct violation of the library code and Librocop would let you know with a menacing stare. Sometimes you could sense his presence as he stood over you, burrowing a hole through the back of your head with his laser-sharp eyes. His favourite saying always came at the end of a long death stare: "Shut up or get out!"

God forbid you wanted to bring anything other than water into the library. Like a begrudging member of Airport Security, Libro would stop you from entering his ship, the library, with anything that resembled a styrofoam cup, and if the alarm went off as you tried to leave the library you were screwed.

A smile from Librocop, in any capacity, would cause the entire student body to panic. Students have been sharing other 'safe spaces' around UCDs Newman building on Twitter that are perfect for students opting for a less regimental style of studying.

Little is known about the origins of Librocop but some suspect that Librocop, like the Terminator, belongs to a secret organisation of Librocops that restore law and order.

So much so, a new female Librocop has been spotted in UCDs library and students are referring to her as 'Libracop'.

UCD is proud of their on-campus security but routinely warn students to be wary of congregating in specific areas, especially with the new shiny vinyl Christmas tree placed in the library - a pure tease.

As far as we know Librocop is still a part of UCD experience but has taken an interest in American politics:

Librocop has used his platform to build a solid fanbase and isn't likely to be forgotten anytime soon:

All in all, Librocop you are an unsung antihero. Sure, we never would've gotten a tap of work done if you hadn't of kept us in line. We salute you, good man!
