Reincarnation: Have We All Been Here Before?

Ok. The explaining part... So, reincarnation originates from the Hindu and Buddhist religions, where it is believed that one's soul travels through many bodies, thus fulfilling the idea of the Saṃsāra 'cyclic existence.' Basically, we live loads of lives until we complete our individual 'circle' and then attain entrance to 'Nirvana,' or 'Heaven.' That make sense to you? Clear? No? Ha! You simpleton. This must be your first time around... (*shakes wise head*) Anyway, never mind... Explaining part over. Let the fucking downright freaky examples of supposed reincarnation commence!

1. Gus Taylor.

Gus was only 18 months old when he started to say the strangest of things... Once, when talking to his own father, he exclaimed "When I was your age, I changed your diaper." That, and a string of other peculiar statements, eventually led his parents to believe that his Grandad (his father's dad, 'Augie'), had been reincarnated into the child. He even knew grizzly details about Augie's sister's death, who had been murdered and whose body was dumped into the San Francisco Bay, "Some bad guys [...] turned her into a fish. She died."

2. James Leininger.

From a very early age, James would talk (seemingly with real knowledge) about having lived the life of a World War II pilot. He would wake up from dreams, screaming about how he had died mid-combat “Airplane crash! Plane on fire! Little man can’t get out!” Eventually, his family came to believe that he was the reincarnation of one James M. Huston Jr., who could remember the battleship he operated out of (The Natoma) and even his co-pilot, Jack Larson.

3. Edward Austrian.

From early on, Austrian was wholly scared of grey days... Days that were drizzly and wet. He then soon began to complain of a sore throat, saying his "Shot was hurting." Soon, more stories came from Edward, stories about being in the trenches during World War I, and that he had been shot in his throat and killed.  His throat continued to pain him, until doctors, baffled by the child's soreness removed his tonsils. A cyst then developed in his throat which couldn't be treated. It eventually went away, but only after he gave more details about his past life. The doctors couldn't explain why it disappeared either.

Right. There's some juicy examples. Now, time for opinion... Personally, I think that the idea that someone can come back, having lived a whole other life, seems to be a bit farfetched.  These children that talk about these past lives could be under the influence of over-eager parents, or were exposed to this information somewhere, y'know?

Sometimes you get a bad feeling off of somebody, and you feel it best to give them a wide berth. And sometimes you're just drawn to someone; they just seem to have this unspoken quality to them. This could be the teachings of Saṃsāra applying in our everyday lives. Their soul is 'showing', so to speak. Sometimes it's pretty, sometimes its gross. Now, I don't know if I could ever believe that we are all on our own individual cycles, or that the kids mentioned above did live past lives... But its undeniably true that we are shaped by every act, good or bad that we have performed.

We'll never really know. But that won't stop the theories and supposed case studies on people who have lived before and may live again... But they sure do make for thrilling reading.
