Silent But Deadly: What Girl Fights Are Really Like

I hate to generalize, but girls are a sneaky bunch. We can be quite passive-aggressive most of the time. Not everyone is able to confront their friends when they do something shitty. Unless you're completely comfortable with the idea that you could hurt your friend's feelings of if you are confident that you can get over it, that is. You tend to bottle up all that aggression and pretend it's not happening. Girl fights aren't all hair-pulling and bitch-slapping, most of the time it's a lot more subtle...

1) Deep Breaths & Smiling Faces

An issue comes up: flirting with a girl/boyfriend, finding out they bought something that they knew that you wanted, left you out of a group hangout etc. As soon as it comes to light, you both take a deep breath, eyes wide with the knowledge and you smile to try and hide the inner rage monster that's trying to rear its angry head.

2) High Pitched Voice

When you do manage to speak it's in this weird high pitched girly voice. You're trying so hard to hide the fact that you're super pissed off, but your voice is just not cooperating.

4) Silence & Tension

Everyone around you can feel the tension waves rolling off you. Everyone is uncomfortable, but no one can say anything. The first to break the silence loses in a way. So you use the tension and the silence to make sure they know that you're pissed, but there's too much pressure to confront you.

5) Bottle It All Up

You start thinking of all the other times that she was an absolute bitch to you, all the times she abandoned you or chose a guy over you. Your frustration and anger builds and builds until you're about to burst, but you keep it inside until you....

6) Get Drunk & Let It Out

Either to her or to a mutual friend. Drink has a way of loosening up your vocal cords and all of it comes rushing out. This is the time when you could stop being passive and move straight to being aggressive. Now is the time for bitch slaps and cruel words.

7) Everything's 'Fine' Again

After you get it all out and recover from your hangover, everything is just fine again. You meet up with them for a coffee and gossip about all your friends. You don't have time to not talk to them anymore. Any residual aggression will just be bottled up for the next 'fight'.
