Life is full of mysteries and the reality is you can be two types of people: a) you lose everything or b) you lose nothing at all. Clearly you are an unlucky person or else just so clumsy that anything could go wrong. And, before you scream at the screen, I'm sure it isn't technically your fault. Maybe just don't bring valuable items outside your house. College life is a time for students where you are constantly broke and, therefore, replacing items isn't possible. Especially, if you want to go out tonight and get drunk. You can probably guess what these items are, but just incase here are Things You Can't Afford To Lose In College.
1) Your Laptop
This is an obvious one. Your laptop is virtually your haven of knowledge, where you keep all your notes and essays. So, since this is so important to you, would you not have backed it up? No, didn't think so. To be honest, I wouldn't even know where to get it backed up. But, I do have insurance. If you don't have insurance you are just asking for it.
2) The Plot
It's a tough world out there and it is not necessarily your fault if you lose the plot. But just keep an eye on it or else it'll get lost and it'll be very hard to return. Let friends know that if such an event did occur that they would let you know before it got worse. Plot loss is a very serious case.
3) Passport
Depending on the time of the year this can be horrendous. If it is right before you go away, God help you. If it is at a time when you have no clue when your next get away will be that's okay but you will have to pay a hefty fine. Also, try to be careful with this one because the more you lose it the more times you have to renew it.
4) Library Books
You may think this is okay at first but they will make you pay a lot for them. You will have to buy new books for the library and pay for the time they were missing. This is an awful thing to happen to a student.
5) An Essay
Please tell me you had a back up. You had to have back up? If you lost the essay and now you are too late to hand it in, or you printed a copy and the original deleted off your computer, oh lord you are in some situation. You may cry with defeat.
6) Car Keys
This is an awful thing to happen to anyone but when it is a broke student it is so much worse. And, if you don't have a spare set at home God help you because it is so expensive to get a new one. But if you have good friends they will be there for you.
7) Doctor's Notes
You have gone to get a doctor's note. You need this to prove why you weren't in class or to get extenuating circumstances. You have gone to all this trouble and if you lose it terrible things will happen.
8) Money
Again, this is bad for everyone but when you are a broke student and down to your last €20 it can be so much worse. You are on your way to pre drinks with a bottle of wine you stole from your parents drinking cabinet and wait, "oh nooooo!", it's gone! You can't go out now.
9) Vouchers
You might get one from a group of friends on your 18th or 21st birthday. You might get one as a christmas present from your family. But when you lose it all hell will break loose. Because many places, believe it or not, will not cancel them for you or accept a receipt. So essentially you are giving money to the person who found such a thing. Sh*t, sh*t times.
10) Temper
It is all fun and games to lose your temper with your family but when you loose it with a teacher or fellow student, that's not on. Be wary of your temperament and keep all things that cause you anger at a bare minimum.
