5 Things That Are More Interesting Than The Ploughing Championships

The National Ploughing Championships opened today in Stradbally Co Laois (previously the location of Electric Picnic). Now, I may be naive in my thinking, but could I be faulted for saying that it might possibly be the most boring thing you ever do?  That being said, the three-day event is the largest show of its type in Europe and it expects to attract up to 200,000 people this year.

But before you make a straight line (sorry) towards the championships, why not take a look at these things that are possibly more interesting to the younger peeps.

Oktoberfest

The German beer is well and truly flowing at this event down at George's Dock in Dublin's IFSC.  Head down early or else book a table on a Friday or Saturday for some serious german inspired craic.

Arthurs Day

The polarising affect this day has had is well documented, but if you want to have fun, it's certainly good for that. Skiving off work early and raising a pint of the black stuff to Arthur at 17.59 is the only thing to do this Thursday.

Leinster V Cardiff

Leinster will look to welcome back most of their international and Lions players for their clash with Welsh side, the Cardiff Blues. Leinster Rugby are running a special deal for students where they can buy tickets for half price, plus theirs 2.90 pints... Bargain.

Spooning World Record Attempt

DIT Students Union are hosting over 1,200 students in an attempt to take part in a massive spooning conga line to break the Guinness World Record on Thursday. Remember, spooning leads to forking, so this could get nasty.

This Meme

Ok, so I saw this cat meme the other day and I thought it was pretty amusing, it may not in fact be better then the Ploughing itself as a whole but it was necessary.
