Well, Climate Launchpad are currently launching their annual competition and we, for one, are very excited indeed. The competition takes some of the best green based ideas, from aspiring entrepreneurs the continent over and gives them a global platform on which to thrive and really grow. Previous success stories include an insect-powered energy bar, plants that can be used for pest control, drone monitoring services for those in the agriculture industry and a reusable laundry detergent system, to name but a few. Successful applicants will firstly be entered into a national competition and from there, winners will be selected to go through to a European final in Estonia in October. Those of you with some green grower ideas of your own need to be put to the test somehow, right? The competition is open to everyone from students to graduates, to those in full-time employment or even those working on research at the present time, the main and most important thing is that you have a strong idea that you strongly believe in, an idea that could potentially change the future of climate change and how we deal with it. This competition is a way and means of working and building yourself up, a way of turning one very simple idea into something much more than that. This is a chance to build a brand and even more impressive than that, a chance to build a brand up into something that can make a difference on a world stage.
For those who make it past the initial entry stages, you'll get some of the best training possible from top industry professionals in a boot camp style of training, before then being coached intensively for the national finals and from there, the top three entrants from each country will be selected to go through to the European finals in Estonia, as well as getting a chance to pitch their ideas to the review board of Climate-KIC Accelerator. This is the big leagues because if you impress these guys, well you could gain access to an 18-month real life business school where you'll get the chance to grow your business into something above and beyond. The top 10 European entrants will get direct access to the programme, without having to face a review board at all. The overall winners will receive €10,00, the runner-up, €5,000 and the third place winner scooping up €2,500.
