Back in October, the government announced Budget 2018. We were told Sugar Tax would be introduced (so you might wanna think about cutting down on G & Ts) and the usual, the cost of smokes would increase.
It was also revealed that minimum wage workers in Ireland would be getting a bit of an increase. The current wage is €9.25 which will jump by 30c on New Year's Day.
It's not much but in the spirit of putting a positive spin on things as we see in the New Year (we're all about mantra's here), CollegeTimes have gotten the 'oul calculator out and worked out what you can buy with your extra cash. That is you know, if you don't have to pay for bills and things.
Don't spend it all at once.
1. Work one hour (30c) - put it towards a Freddo bar
That's right, PUT IT TOWARDS, not buy. The classic bar underwent a price hike earlier this year rising from 30c to around 40c.
Not only that, Freddo's have also got considerably smaller over the years so the extra cash you'll be making over the course of an hour will be PUT TOWARDS a chocolate bar that you could devour in one bite.
2. Work seven and a half hours a day (€2.25) - top up your leap card
Boom! One day done and the extra money will get you a bus journey somewhere. The world is your oyster.
3. Work 37.5 hours a week (€11.25) - buy this gorgeous Penney's handbag
How pretty is this embroidered handbag? And it's only tenner, so you'll have money left over to buy yourself a few Freddo bars!
4. Work 150 hours a month (€45.00)
Fancy unlimited prosecco to wash down your food at brunch? Or treating yourself to afternoon tea? Dublin has plenty of places that hosts either if you fancy treating yourself.
5. Work 1950 hours a year (€585.00)
This has our attention. How about a trip to everyone's favourite Amsterdam? Gorge on the delicious food, visit the coffee shops, take a canal ride for the craic. Or even check out another European destination.
With Ryanair flights going for feck all these days, you'll have the bulk of your money left over for accommodation and spends.
